3.1Scraped Surface Heat Exchanger (Vertical Type & Horizontal Type )
The scraped surface heat exchanger is a device that enhances heat transfer efficiency by agitating the fluid with scrapers and cleaning the heat transfer surface.
It is suitable not only for low-viscosity fluids but particularly for rapid heat exchange of high-viscosity or particulate-containing fluids, preventing the formation of coking films on the heat transfer surface.
This equipment finds extensive application in the preheating, sterilization, and cooling processes of aseptically packaged foods such as dairy products, tomato paste, and fruit juices. Driven by a gun-fed pump, the fluid is continuously processed through three stacked units. It is also suitable for viscous fluids in pharmaceutical, chemical, and dyeing industries.
3.2 Working principle:
The scraper heat exchanger comprises a material cylinder, jacket, agitator and seal assembly. The material cylinder and agitator shaft form an annular channel for feed liquid flow, while the jacket accommodates heating or cooling media for counter-current heat exchange. During high-speed rotation of the agitator shaft, centrifugal force presses scrapers against the cylinder wall to remove surface films. Steam or sterile water seals prevent feed liquid contamination.
The equipment employs a multi-layer scraper structure capable of processing materials with viscosities up to 50,000 cps and particles as fine as 25mm in diameter, delivering heat transfer efficiency 4 to 6 times that of conventional equipment.
The material fluid flows spirally or vortex-like within the cylinder. The axial and rotational Reynolds numbers determine the mixing effect and heat transfer efficiency.

CONLON scraping heat exchangers can be fully incorporated into existing CIP systems. You can clean the CONLON using or against the airflow, and the mixing system can be turned clockwise or counterclockwise. This results in optimal cleaning of CONLON scraping surface heat exchangers.
